The Open Mic Night takes place every Wednesday evening at The Bull from 9.00pm.
It is an opportunity for all musicians to come along and showcase their talent to an intimate but knowledgable audience.
The night allows for all styles, whether you wish to try out new original material; team up with some local musicians who maybe looking to form a new band or just wanting to come along and play.
Hosted by Leigh Cooper, it’s a great way to enjoy a sociable Wednesday evening.
As that famouse wiki says…
These shows provide an opportunity for people to gain experience performing to a live audience without having to go through the process of getting normal music gigs, which is very difficult to do without experience of live performance.
Open mikes have been gaining in popularity in recent times, providing a much-needed outlet for singer-songwriters. Prior to their popularity, the only outlet generally were folk clubs, which were not always friendly towards creators of new music, preferring traditional music.
They also suggested that music performed by acoustic musicians or solo artists in this manner would necessarily be folk music, a misconception that still commonly exists today. Some organizers have chosen the title “acoustic night” or “acoustic club” in an attempt to indicate an event run broadly on the lines of a folk club, but with a much wider range of musical styles.

Not “open” to all musicians, only those over 18.Shame, there is a lot of talent out there that don’t get the chance to perform!or have given up trying while waiting to reach right age.
Please indicate this on your website as this saves a lot of heartache when turning up!!!
Thank You for the comment about last night. Unfortunately our license does not allow under 18`s in the bar after 6.00pm and we adhere to this.
We have run a junior open mic afternoon in the past but stopped due to very poor attendance, but I would be very happy to start this up again if we could get more people to come along and support the event.
If we were to do this it would be on a monthly basis on a Saturday afternoon. I would be very interested on your thoughts.
